How-To
Understand backups, recovery and restore
Know what can be exported today, how recovery differs from sync, and which restore controls are not yet available.
Before you start
- Use iPhone, iPad or Mac for file export.
- Keep any existing backup file unchanged while you check recovery options.
Steps
- Distinguish sync from backupiCloud shares changes, including deletions, between devices. It is not a separate historical backup. A timesheet CSV contains time records, not your complete planner.
- Export from a recovery screen when offeredIf the app opens a readable store in recovery mode, choose Export Full Backup and select a file destination. This button belongs to the recovery screen; there is no general backup export button in normal Settings.
- Keep the recovery fileA complete recovery backup includes planner records, task assignments and time entries. Backups produced by a version with Study also include its subjects, topics and results; older backups may not. Save the file somewhere you can find again and retain the original.
- Check restore availability before deleting anythingA general restore screen is not currently available. Contact support about the installed version and recovery situation; do not send a backup containing private data unless specifically needed and agreed.
- Understand the restore choicesMerge combines supported records using their identities; replacement replaces the existing planner with the complete backup. These are recovery capabilities, not current Settings actions. Legacy partial backups cannot safely replace all data.
Confirm the setup is working
- A recovery export is a separate file you can locate and retain; a timesheet CSV is not a complete planner backup.
Do not use Delete All Data as a restore step. If a recovery export fails, keep the existing files and report the error and app version to support. External file providers store exports; they do not replace native iCloud sync.
