Install and set up the Apple Watch face complication
Recreate the watch-face layout shown in the myDailyTasks images by installing the watch app and adding its Today's Tasks complication to supported slots.
Before you start
- A compatible Apple Watch paired with the iPhone that runs myDailyTasks.
- The current myDailyTasks TestFlight build installed on the paired iPhone.
- The myDailyTasks watch app installed from Watch app → My Watch → Available Apps → myDailyTasks → Install. If Automatic App Install is enabled, confirm the app already appears on the Watch Home Screen.
- Open myDailyTasks on Apple Watch at least once so the watch app can read today's task snapshot.
- If you use iCloud sync, keep the iPhone and Watch associated with the same Apple Account and allow time for the current plan to reach the watch.
What the website images represent
The website image is a development preview of a watch face configured with myDailyTasks complications. It is not currently an installable Apple Watch face file. The website download remains disabled until the signed TestFlight/App Store build and a physical paired Watch have completed final validation.
For now, recreate the pictured layout with Apple's Face Gallery or by editing a face on the Watch. The rectangular example shows Today, progress, the next open task, open count, and completed count. The circular example shows the open count and progress ring. The inline example shows the open count and next task. A corner layout is also supported on faces that provide a corner slot.
Available slots are determined by the Apple face, Watch model, and watchOS version. A single face may not offer every circular, corner, inline, and rectangular position shown across the website images.
Steps
- Confirm the watch app is installed.On iPhone, open the Watch app and select My Watch. If myDailyTasks is listed under Available Apps, tap Install. When installation finishes, press the Digital Crown on Apple Watch and confirm that myDailyTasks appears on the Home Screen.
- Open myDailyTasks on Apple Watch.Launch the watch app once before configuring the face. Confirm that Today opens and shows the expected task information. This establishes the app's current watch data before the complication is selected.
- Choose a face with the required complication positions.In the Watch app on iPhone, open Face Gallery and choose a face with the positions you want. A large rectangular position is required for the detailed Today card. Circular, inline, or corner positions show progressively more compact information.
- Assign the Today's Tasks complication on iPhone.Open the selected face in Face Gallery, tap a complication position, find myDailyTasks, and select Today's Tasks. Repeat for any other compatible positions, then tap Add to Watch. The face is added to My Faces and becomes available on the paired Watch.
- Or configure the complication directly on Apple Watch.With the face visible, touch and hold the display, tap Edit, then swipe left to the complication screen. Tap a position and turn the Digital Crown until myDailyTasks → Today's Tasks is selected. Press the Digital Crown to save, then tap the face to activate it.
- Match the layout shown in the images.Place Today's Tasks in the face's rectangular position for the detailed card, a circular position for count and progress, or an inline position for the compact open-count and next-task line. Use a corner position only when the selected Apple face provides one. Exact placement, typography, colour, and simultaneous slot combinations remain controlled by watchOS.
- Activate and test the complication.Raise your wrist and confirm the selected myDailyTasks information is visible. Tap the complication; it should open myDailyTasks to Today. Complete or add a task, return to the face, and allow watchOS time to request the refreshed complication timeline.
Confirm the setup is working
- The face displays Today's Tasks rather than an empty placeholder or the word Off.
- The rectangular, circular, inline, or corner presentation matches the type of slot selected; watchOS decides the final styling.
- Tapping the complication opens myDailyTasks on Apple Watch and returns to Today.
- Task data agrees with the watch app. Complication updates are scheduled by watchOS and may appear after a short delay rather than immediately.
If myDailyTasks is missing from the complication list, verify that the current watch app is installed and has been opened once, then reopen the face editor. If the required slot is unavailable, choose another Apple face with a compatible position. If information is empty or stale, open Today in the watch app, confirm the paired iPhone has the expected data and iCloud setting, then return to the face; watchOS controls the final refresh schedule. The website's face-download control remains intentionally unavailable until physical-device and signed-build validation is complete.
