How-To
Record task time on Apple Watch
Record task time from the Watch app or its complication, even when you leave the app.
Before you start
- Use the latest myDailyTasks app on both your Watch and paired iPhone.
- Premium is required to start a new Watch timer. An existing timer can be stopped on any plan.
Steps
- Open Task TimerOpen an ordinary task's editor and choose Task Timer to use that task, or open Task Timer from the Watch dashboard. Choose Task or Change Task selects the work to record.
- Start recorded workCheck the displayed task, then choose Start Timer. The elapsed time continues when the app backgrounds or relaunches because the start is saved.
- Stop the sessionReturn to Task Timer and choose Stop Timer for the running task. This saves a time entry without completing the task. Complete the task separately only when its work is done.
- Add its complicationEdit a compatible Watch face, choose a slot and select myDailyTasks → Task Timer. Rectangular, circular, inline and corner families depend on the face. Tap it to reopen the saved session or remembered task selection.
- Review and exportWith optional iCloud sync, allow time for the entry to reach iPhone, iPad or Mac. In Time Tracking, inspect the stopped session, correct any forgotten time, set billable status or notes and export a Timesheet CSV if needed.
Confirm the setup is working
- The same running session is present after leaving and reopening the Watch app.
- After Stop Timer, the entry has an end time and the task's completion is unchanged.
If several running records arrive through sync, review each before stopping the intended session. Double Tap only targets Stop Timer when a single session is running. A complication may refresh later than the app; watchOS controls that schedule.
