How-To

Use Siri, Shortcuts, widgets and Apple device integration

Reach the right task through the system tools available on your device.

Before you start

  • Install and open myDailyTasks on the device you want to use.
  • Available surfaces differ between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. The full Watch dashboard requires Premium.

Steps

  1. Find the app’s ShortcutsOpen Apple’s Shortcuts app and look for myDailyTasks. Ask Siri ‘Open today in myDailyTasks’ to open today’s planner, or follow the Siri and task-shortcut guides below for all voice phrases and setup steps. Published shortcuts include Open Today, Add Task, New Task, Rituals, Blood Pressure Check and Weekly Review. Review parameters before running a shortcut; the blood-pressure shortcut opens setup rather than creating a measurement.
  2. Add a Today widgetOn iPhone or iPad, edit the Home Screen and add a widget from the gallery; on Mac, use Edit Widgets. Find myDailyTasks, choose a supported size and add it. Use the widget to open Today, add a task or explicitly complete an item where offered. Widget refresh is controlled by the operating system.
  3. Check your focus on iPhoneThe current-focus Live Activity is an iPhone surface. Manage Live Activity permission in system settings and open the app if the displayed task needs to refresh.
  4. Find tasks with SpotlightSearch for an indexed task in Spotlight and open its result in myDailyTasks. Search Tasks inside the app is the better place to search retained planner records across dates.
  5. Continue on another deviceWith Handoff enabled and compatible devices nearby using the same Apple Account, use the offered myDailyTasks activity to continue. Handoff opens the relevant context; iCloud separately delivers the underlying planner changes.
  6. Use Mac and Focus controlsOn Mac, open the myDailyTasks menu bar item for Today, Rituals, Weekly Review or Add Task and an open/completed summary. Use the app menu → Settings, or Command-comma, to change preferences. The Help menu opens searchable offline help and Getting Started. Add a myDailyTasks Focus Filter in system Focus settings for task visibility; follow the linked guide.
  7. Add the Watch complicationChoose myDailyTasks in a compatible Watch face slot. Use the manual face guide for Today and the dedicated guides for Watch focus, timer and quick controls.

Confirm the setup is working

  • A shortcut or widget opens the intended task or app section; completion is performed only by the explicit completion action.

Opening the main app can refresh available actions and local data. Widget and notification information can appear outside App Lock; review those system visibility settings separately. Background updates have no guaranteed interval.
